The majority of his clients are closely held companies operating under various tax structures in a diverse group of industries. Jerry received his B.S. from Northern Illinois University.

Jay is a CPA, tax partner, and member with over 30 years of experience, and specializes in the taxation of corporations, pass-through entities and individuals. Jay received his B.A. in Accounting and Business from Augustana College. The majority of his clients are closely held companies operating under various tax structures in a diverse group of industries.

Michael A. Kautz
Mike is a partner at Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard & Co. He primarily serves private clients in the construction and manufacturing industries, providing audit, review, compilation, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll services. Mike also performs 401(k) audits for several of the firm's clients.
Mike regularly advises clients on complex transactions, entity elections, buyouts, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as retirement plan compliance under SECURE 2.0 and ERISA. He works closely with business owners to translate complex tax and accounting issues into clear, actionable guidance.
Mike is a graduate of Augustana College. He is a licensed CPA in Iowa and Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). -
Paul T. Nation
Paul is a partner at Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard & Co. with over 12 years of experience providing comprehensive accounting and tax services to businesses and individuals. He specializes in helping small business owners navigate their accounting and tax needs, providing practical solutions and strategies to support their financial goals.
Paul works with clients across a wide range of industries, with particular experience serving businesses in manufacturing, professional services, construction, and real estate. He provides comprehensive accounting solutions tailored to each client's needs, while also helping business owners identify tax planning opportunities, address complex tax matters, and make informed financial decisions.
In addition to his business tax expertise, Paul has extensive experience with individual income tax matters, estate tax planning, trusts, and gift tax. He works with individuals and families to develop thoughtful tax strategies that address both their current needs and long-term financial and estate planning goals.
A graduate of the University of Illinois, Paul is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois. He is committed to building lasting relationships with his clients and serving as a trusted advisor as their businesses and personal financial circumstances evolve. -
Brian J. Neff
Brian is a CPA, tax partner, and member with over 20 years of experience, and specializes in the taxation of corporations, pass-through entities and individuals. He also provides computer consulting services for various clients in diverse industries. Brian received his B.S. in Accounting from Southern Illinois University. The majority of his clients are closely held companies operating under various tax structures in a diverse group of industries. -
William J. Karben
Bill merged his practice into the firm in December of 2013 and serves as a practice partner for those clients. Bill brings 20 years of tax and accounting services experience and specializes in taxation of corporations, pass-through entities, individuals and not-for-profit organizations in diverse industries. Bill also has extensive experience providing consulting services to clients ranging from accounting procedures, budgeting, forecasting, business transitions, transactions and acquisitions. Prior to joining Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard & Company, LLC, he was a tax director with a national accounting firm where he led regional not-for-profit tax, construction and real estate services. Bill graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance and completed accounting undergraduate studies at Western Illinois University. Bill is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has served as the past President of the Western Chapter of the Illinois CPA Society. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for two local not-for-profit organizations. -
Mark D. Petersen
Mark is a CPA with over 35 years of experience and specializes in income tax consulting, planning and preparation for individuals and small businesses. Mark received his B.A. in Accounting from Augustana College. Mark is a member of the AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society, the Augustana Accounting Advisory Board and serves on the Board of several other profit and nonprofit organizations. -
John Huber
John is a partner with Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard & Co, LLC and has over 30 years of public accounting experience, of which 14 years have been with Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard & Co., LLC.
John has spent the majority of his time concentrating on family and business, concentrating on construction and manufacturing clients.
John has considerable experience in the audit field and works well with his construction clients for prequalification and bonding needs. John also does extensive tax planning with his clients.
John is a CPA and a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa. He is licensed to practice in both Iowa and Illinois. He is a member of the AICPA and the Iowa Society of CPA's.
